BINGHAMTON, MAY 18 31x3mm black straightline town marking and manuscript "5" rate marking. There is
                   one other similar postmark dated May 17th, according to Chester Wilcox's records.
                   5 cents was the rate for under 300 miles, per Act of March 3, 1845.

Binghamton, N.Y. MAY 23 30x3mm red Caps and small letters straightline town marking and handstampted
                 "5" rate marking in red. This appears to be the one listed in the American Stampless
                 Cover Catalog.  5 cents was the rate for under 300 miles, per Act of March 3, 1845.
