The Lestershire Post Office was established in Broome County on October 17, 1893. Prior to then it was Lester Shire. The first postmaster of Lestershire was Cyrenus N. Day. On September 20, 1915 the Lestershire Post Office became Johnson City.

LESTERSHIRE/AUG 29/8 PM/19 08/N.Y. Black 22mm CDS; Type B-14 flag cancel on 1 cent blue green (#300). The Lestershire B-14 flag is known only from 1907 to 1909.
LESTERSHIRE/AUG 12/8 PM/19 09/N.Y. Black 22mm CDS; Type B-14 flag cancel on 1 cent green (#331). This was the last year of use of the Lestershire B-14 flag cancel.
LESTERSHIRE, N.Y./JUL 25/8 PM/1910 Black 22mm CDS; Type A-14 flag cancel on 1 cent green (#331). This was the first year of use of the Lestershire A-14 flag cancel.
LESTERSHIRE, N.Y./APR 15/8 PM/1912 Black 22mm CDS; Type A-14 flag cancel on 1 cent green. The Lestershire A-14 flag is known only from 1910 to 1915.
