The Chenango Point Post Office, originally in Tioga County, was established in Broome County on March 28, 1806, upon the formation of Broome County from Tioga County. Thus it was one of the original post offices in Broome County. The first postmaster of Chenango Point was William Woodruff. On May 29, 1830, Chenango Point became the Binghamton Post Office.

Chenango Point/Augt. 15 Black manuscript; Manuscript "37 1/2". Double letter rate for 90 to 150 miles, per Act of December 23, 1814 which increased rates 50%. Thus 2 x 12 1/2 = 25cents + 50% = 37 1/2 cents.
