Binghamton - 1929

BINGHAMTON/JUN 17/830 AM/N.Y. Black 25mm CDS, year (1929) outside of circle; Black duplex (1) and 1 in circle killers. 
                              Magenta "Via Air Mail"; First Day cover, special Binghamton cachet.  Binghamton was one of
                              sixteen different New York cities that issued first day covers for the Sullivan Expedition stamp.  
                              Franked with four 2 cent carmine (#657) overpaying the 5 cent airmail rate.

Binghamton - 1930

BINGHAMTON/JUL 11/830 AM/1930/N.Y. Black 22mm CDS; Black Universal Ca400 machine cancel killer 
                                   ties a pair of the 5 cent Beacon airmail (# C11). Stamps paid the
                                   5 cent overseas surface rate plus the 4 cent airmail surcharge for
                                   airmail service within the United States to the US exchange office.
                                   Thus the stamps represent 1 cent overpaid.

Binghamton - 1934

BINGHAMTON/MAY 4/7 PM/N.Y. 28mm Black CDS, year (1934) outside of circle; Black duplex (1) and 1 in circle killers. 
                              Pair of purple "Via Air Mail" handstamps.  
                              Franked with a 3 cent violet coil (#721) on 5 cent blue airmail entire (#UC2),
                              which paid the 8 cent airmail rate for a one ounce letter, effective July 6, 1932.

Binghamton - 1938

BINGHAMTON/MAY 19/10 AM/1938/N.Y. 22mm Black CDS, black wavy line machine cancel. 
                                  Blue "VIA AIR MAIL" in ribbon with arrow; Special Binghamton National Air Mail Week cachet.  
                                  Red "THIS LETTER CARRIED ON SPECIAL/FIRST FLIGHT FROM ENDICOTT, N.Y./Sam A. Mauriello, Pilot."  
                                  Franked with 6 cent dark blue and carmine airmail stamp of 1938 (#C23) paying the airmail rate.

Binghamton to Australia - 1941

BINGHAMTON/MAR 3/230 PM/1941/N.Y. 30mm Black CDS; Duplex (1) killer. Magenta "VIA AIR MAIL".  
                                  Censored cover to Melbourne, Australia with examiner markings.
                                  "AIRMAIL/IN USA" notation means letter was sent by airmail
                                  within the United States (probably to the west coast), but
                                  then went to Australia via surface (ship) mail. 6 cent orange
                                  postal stationery (#UC3) paid the domestic airmail portion of
                                  the postage, while the 2 cent carmine defense issue (#900)
                                  paid the surface rate from the United States to Australia.

Binghamton - 1942

BINGHAMTON/MAR 27/1 PM/1942/N.Y. 30mm Black CDS; Duplex (2) killer; and 22mm Black CDS with Black 
                                 "BUY/DEFENSE SAVINGS/BONDS AND STAMPS" slogan cancel. 
                                 Magenta "VIA AIR MAIL";  Arlington Hotel corner card.
                                 Franked with 5 cent ultramarine (#887) and 1 cent green (#889).

Binghamton to Barbados - 1942

BINGHAMTON/NOV 25/1 PM/1942/N.Y. 30mm Black CDS; Duplex (2) killer. Magenta "VIA AIR MAIL";  
                                 Wartime censored cover to Barbados, British West Indies with 
                                 examiner markings. Franked with five, 3 cent violet prexies
                                 (#807), three 2 cent carmine defense issue (#900), a single
                                 1 cent green defense issue (#899),and a single 3 cent Win The
                                 War issue (#905) paying the 25 cent per 1/2 ounce airmail
                                 rate effective January 15, 1941.

Binghamton to England - 1943

BINGHAMTON/JUN 9/430PM/1943/N.Y. 30mm Black CDS; Duplex (2) killer. Magenta "VIA AIR MAIL";  
                                 Wartime censored cover to England, with examiner markings,
                                 franked with 30 cent blue transport issue airmail stamp (#C30).

Binghamton - 1951

BINGHAMTON/SEP 30/1230 PM/1951/N.Y.  23mm Black CDS;  Slogan cancel, "HIRE THE HANDICAPPED/IT'S GOOD BUSINESS".
                                     TWA First Flight.  Inaugeration of flight service to Broome County.
                                     Franked with 6 cent carmine airmail issue (#C39).
